After more than 20 years on Tejon Street in the historic DeGraff building, Walston Group Real Estate relocated to a new home in the downtown Weber-Wahsatch National Register Historic District. Most of our clients know that we love older homes, and when we saw the 'For Sale' sign in the yard of the 1910 bungalow located at 1031 N. Weber Street, we couldn't resist the opportunity to make it one of our Special Projects and the new Walston Group headquarters. The previous owner had occupied the property for nearly 30 years and thankfully hadn't changed much, which gave us the opportunity to preserve the remaining character-defining historic features while thoughtfully updating. The building had amazing bones including unpainted interior trim and wood beamed ceilings, original divided light windows, Fir flooring, and large, comfortable rooms. We undertook a nearly two-year long rehabilitation project under the guidance of our in-house historic preservation expert including:

  • New roof and gutters
  • Fresh exterior paint and patched stucco
  • New stone entry stairs
  • Extensive landscaping including six new trees and hundreds of perennials
  • Updated building systems including the removal of all knob and tube wiring, and new furnace and water heater
  • Fresh paint throughout, restoration of all original wood trim and refinishing of original Fir flooring
  • Installed a new kitchen (there previously wasn't one!) including custom cabinetry, natural quartzite counters and new appliances
  • Created a coffee bar in the former pantry including hand-painted limestone backsplash tile
  • Rehabilitated both the main and upper-level bathrooms to include period-appropriate plumbing and lighting fixtures, marble floor tile and subway tile wainscoting

This has been one of our favorite Special Projects, and we invite you to stop and take a tour!

Downtown/Central

The rapidly growing downtown/central area offers many exciting entertainment, dining and shopping options. This area is home to some of the oldest and most well-established neighborhoods in the City, and also some of the newest developments in urban living such as lofts.

Downtown has an array of parks, trails and outdoor activities – make sure to check out the Pike Ride electric bikes that are available at multiple locations! The new Switchback soccer stadium hosts frequent concerts, and there is plenty to entertain the whole family including the US Olympic Museum, Pioneers Museum, and the Fine Arts Center.
